Oh, hello. You've arrived at the sequel of a previous blog that I wrote six years ago while living in Chicago. Let me recap...no, there's been too much. Let me sum up. (Credit to Princess Bride. Those who got the reference: 6 points.) A year ago, my husband and I decided to blow up our successful, fun, extremely stressful lives in Chicago to move back home to where I grew up, in Albuquerque. Which is in New Mexico. Not Arizona. Or Mexico the country. For those of you unclear. We have big mountains, endless sun, copious amounts of green chile, and apparently no actual speed limit, like anywhere.
Back in Chicago, I often worked like a maniac and started The Dirty Dish Chicago on a whim so I would have a hobby. I'm not kidding. I was that lazy/exhausted/pathetic. And it worked! So fun! So many killer restaurants, and friends in the wine and food world on which to ride the delightful, truffled coattails. My life now? Nearly 180 degrees from that (motherhood, breast cancer, fearing tiny lizards in a backyard). And yet, the only thing that makes being home to entertain my food-obsessed family even better? Writing about it.
Two side bars:
1. If you have breast cancer and want to talk about it with me, the answer is yes, because the sisterhood abides.
2. I know very little about Breaking Bad. Sorry.
Let's do this.
